Home > Hearing Issues > Adult Issues > Choosing Cosmetics Over...

It's only natural for you to want anything you use or wear - your clothes, your glasses, your hearing aids - to look as attractive as possible. But someone who chooses the cosmetic appearance of his or her hearing aids as their primary concern may be creating another barrier to good hearing.

Many different styles and sizes of hearing aids are available, including the ultra-miniature canal hearing aids that are virtually invisible.

For many people, small hearing aids may not be a compromise. For other people, however, certain styles or sizes of hearing aids are a compromise. That doesn't necessarily mean that the smaller hearing aids won't be helpful. Rather, one style of hearing aid may be more effective than another style and using cosmetics as the only factor in selecting hearing aids can put an obstacle between you and good hearing.
